Per Giants.com the New York Giants have waived back-up runningback Da’Rel Scott and signed center Dallas Reynolds.
The move to release the Giants second leading rusher might come as a surprise to many, but Scott sealed his fate with his fumble in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. If you follow me on Twitter @bigbluebloggers then you already know my feelings about Scott. For those that don’t, I basically spent all of Sunday tweeting that the Giants need to get rid of Scott and give David Wilson all of his snaps (on Sunday, Scott had 25 snaps to Wilson’s 27). At some point, the Giants need to see what they have in their former first round pick, and the time is apparently now.
When the Giants originally drafted Scott, I was a big believer in what he could do. However, after battling knee injuries, he lost the elite speed he used to have and seems to have put on weight. Letting Scott go is no big loss for the GMEN, in my opinion.
As for Dallas Reynolds, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He has spent time on and off their roster and practice squad over the past couple of years, starting 14 games for them in 2012. He is 6’4, 320 lbs and primarily plays center and guard.
